What do you do when you are looking for ideas. Could be ideas for an article, an info product or a business.
At a high level, I simply try to let myself get inspired. I observe what other people do, talk to people, answer questions, mindlessly scroll Twitter, and other 'wandering about' activities. This is probably the complete opposite of focused work, since it's all about being randomized and bouncing between things.
Then when inspiration strikes, I try to assess the opportunity. This is a much more rational and deliberate exploration. At this point in my life, I like opportunities that only require a low stake and likely carry high odds of success — even if that means a significantly lower upside.
And when both inspiration and opportunity meet, I pounce. I don't put it in an ideas list. I don't create a new year's resolution. I start right away, and typically try to finish quickly. It's not uncommon that I start something and quickly realize that the opportunity wasn't as compelling as I thought, and in that case I see if I can do something with what I've done so far, and then go back to the start of the loop.
